Psh, thats nothing...A friend an I were trying to get a PS pulley off of the pump on a 1998 Olds Minivan with the 3.8....

One good slip and the pulley shattered, then trying to get the pieces of pulley off the shaft, we snapped that....

    Wasnt a good day...

But still, you shouldnt have done that XD

I've snapped a power steering shaft before but on my 97 GMC truck, worst part was i had hydro boost brakes and had to drive home with no power steering or brakes.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

This is fairly common especially in colder temperature climates. on initial start up the ps fluid is cock stiff and the belt just keeps driving the pulley regardless of whats happening inside
