x3. 5w-30 9000. I know firsthand that it is very good oil.

Ok now I have to find someone that sells it.
So motorking pulled through and I have a pair of fram XG3387A's sitting here...
Mobil has less inlet, but more outlet.
XG is the opposite.
Will report back with some more oil pressure numbers once I get back into a normal oil change schedule.
Ban?
What?
I'm running an XG3387A with Pennzoil 0w-20 synthetic.
I'm seeing 65 on startup, 57-60 cruising hot.
65-70 WOT.
30 hot idle in gear.
well thats been sorted out thanks to bio i believe.
First off, if you change your oil every 3k miles then just stick to a name brand conventional oil. I usually purchase whatever is on sale. Lately I've been using Mobil's Super 5000 5w-30, though I change it every 3k. It's almost as cheap as Wal-Mart's Super Tech.
As for those of you who leave your oil in for 6-15k mi., just remember that even though a full synthetic oil can theoretically maintain viscosity for that sort of mileage, your oil filter is still rated for 3k miles. Once your filter becomes plugged a bypass valve will open allowing un-filtered oil to circulate through your engine. If your oil is full synthetic and rated to last that many miles, then please change your filter every 3k and add a quart or so to make up for its displacement.
I can't run syn and change it every 3000 KM?
Aka 1900 miles?
Unless it isn't. For $9, I can run a 15,000 mile filter that filters better than a 3,000 mile filter and is made of higher quality parts. There's various discussions on such things elsewhere on the forums, though. And that being said, the only way to know when you should change your oil is to keep testing it to find your limit, which is different for ever car and driving style.
Ive used royal purple 5-30 forever (don't have anyone that sells amsoil around here or I would run that) I notice better fuel econ. and I drive at least 100mi every day.
My 06 had 40k miles on it when I switched. I don't change my oil for at least 20k miles. The same way I explain it to my wife. I may spend like 60 bucks to change my own oil using royal purple. But if I have to change my oil every 3k miles b/c I'm using cheap oil then it would cost me triple what I pay.
I have also read about the wear tests on oil and royal purple and amsoil where the only 2 full syns. to outlast there tests. That's when I switched to royal purple
