    Hi I have a 97 GT.
For the past 2 days it has been giving me headaches.
It started to act funny it would start, run fine, untill i turned on an electrical component, such as a turn signal at which point the tach would go spuratic, the fuel gauge would shoot from 1/2 full to above full, and the dash lights would come on then it would stall. It would start back up if I turned it over and gave it gas, but only if I gave it gas. I assumed it was either power or fuel related. I tested the Battery, its fine. I tested the alternator its fine. I tested the fuel pump, it did not seem to be working so it got replaced. Still same problem. But now when you put the key in and turn it the car turns over has gas and no spark.
SO I tested the fuses and some have power some do not.
Someone said it might be the PCM went bad, but from looking around it seems like it might be the CPS. Anyone have any idea what it might be, I really need to get this fixed before labor day weekend is over.
    Thanks

My best guess would be PCM, we had one with a similar problem. Also I had a red 00' GTP that had the same problem as you and I thought it was out of gas and a bunch of other things but it was really the fuel pump but you say you changed that so I'm not sure.

    addition:
I hooked up the car to an OBD II scanner. the scanner could not communicate. I am pretty sure the pcm is dead.

You might just check your PCM connection harness....make sure the plug is seated good and there is no corrosion in the pins. A PCM going dead like that is fairly uncommon

There is a spray terminal cleaner for connections like that. Should be able to find it at any auto parts store.

Get some elextronics cleaner. If you are really in a pickle, use rubbing alcohol.

^^^that was my guess, lots of random electrical issues in a GP usually leads to the ignition switch

Glad to see you got her fixed. Hey 02BlueGT. Random stalling issue. Tach doesn't jump around before it stalls, so I ruled out CPS. Only happens once every couple of weeks. Go to take off and it just dies like you turn the switch back one notch. Radio and lighst for gear indicator on dash cluster stay on. When she's running, cut the switch back one notch and it has the same effect as when she dies. Did this to see if all the same stuff stayed on. No sputtering or nothing before it dies, just running great, then nothing. ICM or ignition switch, any ideas? Did a thread on it, but really didn't get anything.
