1998 Grand Prix Heated Seats Wont Turn Off

I just purchased this car today, 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, and my one problem is that the heated seats wouldnt shut off. Now i googled this problem and that was somewhat useful but theres were staying on when the car was off, mine just stay on when the car is on.

Reach under the seat and unplug the relay. Try swapping it .. hold it GP right? Crap. I was going to say swap with passenger side but GP's didn't get those.

I'd try a new relay. It's possible it got stuck in the on position. It is supposed to turn off with the ignition.

Is the battery dead now? Cant imagine that keeping the seat warm with the ignition off is good for the juice box.

I had the same problem with my 98, had to yank the fuse because the seat literally was burning me. Didn't do anything to fix it for a while. Replaced my ignition switch and put the fuse back in and the problem no longer exists. Not sure if the ign switch cured it or not but haven't had a problem from switching from hi to low on the switch since.

yeah my battery died...and i noticed that while the car is off i can still
use the power seats and adjust them so im gunna pull the fuse for now

Not a worry in my garage. It's probably an hour and half ride from Taunton to civilization (Enfield)...

Probably would be easier to toss the info at you as to which wire is supposed to be the ignition turn on to the relay and have you follow it back.

I pulled the fuse (HSEAT/LUM) and jumped my car yesterday. It is now morning and it started up find so this narrows it down a little bit i guess.

its most likely the relay getting stuck. The only way it would cause a no start is if its a parasitic drain on your battery, or the no start may be a different problem

its starting now that the fuse is pulled, how do i check for the stuck relay

take a dvom to it and check current with switch off and on and see if its staying closed. if you find the relay you can turn the switch on and off and see if the relay is clicking
