Ok so far this site has been so helpful! just did my custom intake yesterday!

Ok so i went to check my coolant today and noticed it was low and it was dirty and clumpy . so i was wondering could i flush it myself? went to a side mechanic (i know bad idea) and he said something about a back flush? and that he would charge me 75. i wouldn't let him do the job anyway.

So is it DIY friendly? also should i trust the screen that says how much oil percent i have left? i checked my oil and its seems a bit low, so should i add some more? what kind should i add? the guy who i purchased it from said he only uses royal purple. so should i just add some more i that?

Also what kind of coolant should i use? is it Dexcool? im kinda new to this whole car maintenance and want to keep my GTP in excellent condition. Thanks you guys

As far as the oil, it's basically estimated oil life, not amount. If you aren't sure about oil, just do an oil change.

I wouldn't know for coolant, but most anyone else here will probably tell you to throw in some green stuff when you do get the other stuff flushed out.

get a coolant flush tee and set the rad cap to the middle position.

then flush away till the water coming out is clean as it was going in.

Replace with prestone all makes all models long life.

5w30 is fine, synthetic is better, royal purple is overkill.

Royal Purple claims they are compatible to mix with conventional oils, but I would either add Royal Purple, or completely change the oil if you were planning on putting regular in

A coolant tee you would cut the heater hose I believe and put this T in there where you can hook a hose up to and let it run/flush at the same time and it gets most everything out. Put the green stuff back in there and make sure to bleed the system.
I run Valvoline oil but I've heard wonderful things about Royal Purple.
But if you don't want to cut the hoses to do the flush, just pull of the lower radiator hose, fill with water, run, drain and repeat until it is clear. You can also use a flush solution if you like.

the lower radiator hose goes to the water pump and radiator. its a bigger hose. be careful, youre gonna dump coolant all over the place doing this.

Thanks bio248. Any precaution I should use? I already have a bucket an somewhere to hold the coolant until I can dispose of it properly. So it I'm understanding correctly, I should remove the bigger hose and remove the cap while the car is cool then put a waterhose in it and let it run. Then unhook the plug under the car correct? Let it flush through. What about the overflow bottle? Thanks for the quick replies guys. You guys are
    Great

yea its on the passenger side at the bottom. remove it off the radiator. make sure the car is cool. you will loose some coolant cus not all will be caught by the bucket but its okay. just take the overflow off and wash it out in the warm house with the sink and dawn lol.

I dont like putting them in permanently.

I have mine sitting in my tool box with a foot of heater hose and some clamps on it so i can install it to flush then remove it.
