So this may be a stupid question, but the website says that this will only work IF your pcm is setup to run it. How exactly do you set it up? Is it a special tune or is this just plug and play?

You need to adjust your Intake air temp spark modifier table to utilize this

you have to open up the IAT tables to change timing at the appropriate amounts according to where you have the knob, which is hooked up to the IAT sensor.

a happy knob is essentially a 10 step potentiometer.

Yeah I'd like a little more info on this myself. That's pretty crazy for how cheap it is. I mean it basically lets you street tune the car depending on temperature and conditions outside. If you're watching your knock you'd always have precise control on having the car runs it's best

It would allow more room between pullies also if you think about it. How many times have people bolted a smaller pulley on and get knock in the 4-7 range then have no ability to change the pcm. Am I thinking right here?

So you really can only use it on the dyno or with someone that has a programmer then?

no, you just need to tune for it once. then each spot on the dial means a certain timing level. then you can play with it whenever you want.

so you would have to make timing changes in the air temp spark table?

So say you click the Happy knob so the IAT reads 32 degrees to the PCM, It will add or deduct what ever you put into that table under 32 degrees(not sure of the actual degrees each setting on the knob is yet) It has 7 settings for different temperatures.

Like said above, it basically plugs in and takes over your IAT table to add the spark. It's just a board with resistors on it that will register as different degrees of temp. when plugged in. You have to change the iat table in the pcm or it won't add any timing. Once changed, it will add on however much timing you put in the iat table, on top of the base timing.

The other way of doing this would be to run a wire from your IAT to the cabin and put a switch on that wire. Then modify your tables so when the switch is "on" or your IAT is plugged in, it will add 2* of timing or so. Most of the time you will be only making 2-3* adjustments anyway.

Another way for turbo cars is to turn the IAT into an anti-lag switch. Setup the tables so it retards timing when plugged in and have it wired as a push button setup. You drive up to the line, push the button and build up some boost without leaving the line or pushing past the beams. Release the button when you launch or have traction.
