Ok recently I posted about my car not starting because of my HID lights being left on. Ok now let's fast forward to now. It's 949 pm in DMV lol. And it's freezing and snow outside and the car wouldn't start until I left it in the on position. Any idea why? Bad battery? Bad alternator? Any help is appreciated

battery not outputting sufficient voltage. The HIDs require a lot of voltage on startup, then will run on less after they warm up a little. At least that's my guess. Is it only happening at night? Gonna guess a bad battery due to fully draining. I would get it tested before replacing it.

It seems like a battery issue to me tommyp20 because after leaving the car in the on position somehow charges the battery? And yes the key has gotten stuck before 99prix.

Ok hypothetically speaking, how much would it cost for the ignition switch to be replaced? I'm still leaning towards the dead battery and HID lights draining it but it's good to check othe mr sources also.

If I were you.. I would turn off your HID's before you turn off the car.. So when you try and start it up, they don't come on and draw power.

You said when you flip high beams on they turn off. This means you have a single beam HID kit. Use this to your advantage. When you leave the car flip the highbeams on. This will turn off the HIDs. When you want to use them, simply flip the high beam again. This is what I do to prolong the life of the ballast by not flipping them on and then off and then back on when starting the car.

I would still get a new battery if I were you. That one might be getting old ya know.
