Thread: Fuel Pump Issue

I went to turkey hill tonight to get a coffee with my cousin, and when i came back out and started my car it sputtered and died.. when i turned the key back to the on position i noticed i couldnt hear the fuel pump, so i tried to start it and it wouldnt even turn over completely.. just kind of sputtering. then when i tried again it just kept cranking and thats it.. so i went under the car and hit the fuel tank a few times and had my cousin try to start it and sure enough it started! but now when the fuel pump primes its really low pitched and does not sound healthy at all.. the car starts though.. should i chance it and drive to work tomorrow or should i get it replaced tomorrow.. i dont know if i should risk it.

i had that problem with my 97, i replaced the fuel pump and did a zzp re-wire

okay so its my fuel pump dying right? If so im ordering one as soon as i get my paycheck on friday

I would recommend one from Ed Morad or find a factory take-out from somewhere.

Do not buy any brand of aftermarket fuel pump. The low price compared to OEM may lure you in but dont do it. Most aftermarket pumps are poorly built and youll be changing it out again in a year or so...

Before you buy a pump, run power directly to it to confirm its dead. Or check the resistor too. If it is dead, then get a pump.
