A month ago, my wife reported that our 97 GTP was "shifting different, kind of hard". So I checked the dipstick first and it was WAY over the full mark. I dropped the pan, put in a new filter, pumped some fluid through the cooler to make sure it wasn't plugged and then filled it back up the the full mark very carefully. Drove it for a while, made sure to go through all the gears and everything was fine. Yesterday my wife called to report the same symptoms again. I pulled the dipstick and it is way over full again! Anyone run into this before? I'm going to try to find a tran shop on Monday but is it even safe to drive to the shop? Should I have it towed?
    Thanks for any comments.

Maybe converter going bad just dumping the fluid back in the pan. I would send Trannyman a pm and ask him or click here Triple Edge Performance - Home Page and send him an email.

Ur not supposed to fill it when the trans is cold. Partially fill it then start the car and let it get up to temp and fill it the rest of the way

Thanks for the thoughts, yes the tran was warm and the car was running when checking the level. It is so high that it is full of bubbles when running. It is not a "milkshake" as it would be if coolant was leaking into it. I'll send a note to Tranny man. Thanks.

I'm thinking there may be a gasket (channel plate/VB) going that is causing some leaking and adding air to the fluid which would make it appear overfull and bubbly.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
