I have an 04 grand prix gt. I am installing my SD headers, and I'm wondering if I need o2 sensor extensions? I'd rather not need them, but it is what it is. Can anyone tell me if I need them or no?

If your running a rear o2 sensor, you will need one there too. You definetly need one for the front o2 sensor...since its farther back the stock location.

    no.

splice wire in on the vehicle side of the O2 sensor harness.

Make sure you use non insulated crimping butt connectors, solder then shrink wrap and electrical tape....

Only one thing beats that: running a whole new wire.

Don't modify the O2 sensor itself.

Only modify your vehicles O2 sensor wiring or buy the extension from say ZZP.

I extended the sensor wiring itself, and it worked out just fine. Just make sure you solder the connections, heatshrink it, and then wrap electrical tape around the whole deal like matt said.

I have the SD headers. you need an extension for the front, I bought them from ZZP, because, although I know "some" about wiring, there was a massive debate about whether you could safely, and properly, splice in wires and make it longer. I just played it safe. I dont have a CAT anymore, I connceted two spark plug non-foulers (10$ from Napa) and put the rear O2 back on. $5 o2 cheater/non fouler how-to - evolutionm.net

or buy the emulater. your choice. My car ran like **** without the rear O2 in

^^ the pcm doesnt use anything from the secondary o2 for engine managment, so your car runs the same with or without it. just turns on the SES light. but in a few of the 04+ ive seen (mine included)they run fine with the rear o2 and no cat. but if u dont know what ur doing spend the 15 bucks and buy em

You just need to run the O2 sensor then set the codes to non report.

You can go catless, but you need to run the O2

I looked for one before going the route of a spark plug non-fouler. There is not an o2 sim that will work on a 04+ currently. The ones that are out there are for 03' and down.
