    Hi all:

I have the 40th anniversary edition and I have noticed that when opening the hood after it rains or after washing the car that a ton of water runs out of the hood onto the windshield/cowl area. It seems that the vents on the hood are allowing water in and then the hood liner is holding the water until the hood is opened, then it all comes pouring out. Anyone else having this problem? Should there be a drain or do I have something plugged up, or is this normal for water to enter the hood vents and sit there?

Also, anyone know how effective these hood vents really are? I have not taken them apart or looked real close, but it seems like only the vent on the drivers side has a pickup under the hood, which seems to be right over the throttle body. It seems I heard somewhere that these things actually work fairly well, but now I can't find where I saw that. Anyone have any thoughts or know more about it?

there is probably water sitting in the drip trays under the vents. you can take those off if you want, it wont hurt anything for the motor to get wet. itll just get dirtier faster.

the hood is mainly aesthetic, so dont worry about it being functional at all.

I will take a look at those when the weather improves, thank you.

I had heard that these vents actually did a good job. From what I can tell looking at the bottom of the hood they don't seem too special, but I guess they probably do let out more heat than not having them.
