Hey i just got my 3.4" ZZP MPS and new belt in the mail today and am pretty anxious to get it on. I'm not going to install it untill i get my tuned PCM in the mail tommorow. I have a couple questions regarding the removal and installation of my MPS. When i ordered this MPS i planned on taking it to my friends garage who has a pulley puller that i can use. The downside is that he's on vacation until next week so i can't access his garage. Are there any other tools i can use besides the actual pulley puller in substitution to remove and install the old and new hub (i know theres some people on here who are very creative) ? Please help me out! Thanks

you CANNOT use a claw type puller to take the pulley off. you need one with a backing plate so it applies even force across the whole pulley.

why did you not just rent the tool from ZZP when you ordered your pulley?

and I guarantee you that your mechanic or friend does not have the right pulley puller.... Might as well rent one from ZZP unless you can confirm he has the right one. There might be someone close to you that might have one?

I thought about ordering it, i just thought i could get away with finding someone who has one around me. I might have to order it from zzp if i can't find a puller with a base plate. Nothing like autozone or pep boys would have the right puller would they ? And theres no way of making a homemade puller?

you can make a home made puller, but youre going to have to be creative. its not rocket science, just takes a little thinking.

You could remove the front drive snout and use a hydraulic press support as much of the pulley as possible.

What if i rip off the old pulley with a wrench and hammer. And the place the new hub on and put a rubber hockey puck in front of it and nail it with a hammer?

Ya bud it was. More so in frustration and sarcasim. It's not a big deal i've waited on other things before. One thing i learned when it comes to modding is that you have to be patient.

I had a machine shop put my 3.5 press-on pulley on when I got the car a few years ago...they had a 50K lb. press and he made quick work of it and only charged me 40 bucks.
