    Hello,
I posted on the intro. forum, but this looks like the right place for a question. Short story version. I have a 2000 grand prix SE that was pretty much totaled due bad roads following a snow storm. I just purchased a 1998 grand prix GT. They both have the 3.8l. The GT motor is apparently locked up from what the previous owner stated. My plan is to put the SE motor into the Gt body. I don't see any problems with this move. If there is a problem I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Also, the lady said that the GT was running fine and she pulled up to a light and it started to knock and then just stalled and couldn't be restarted. Timing belt? Any suggestions on what could have happened? THey said when they tried to restart all they got was like a grinding noise. I was thinking if the motor locked up then that would be from the starter trying to engage. Anyway, I hope someone can help because if I can do a fix for now without a motor swap, that would be great.
    Thank You,
    Sharp

I haven't messed with it yet to find out. Just trying to get a little insight before I break into it.

I put a battery in and the car rolled over about 5 or 6 times and then there was a very loud clank and it stopped turning. What do ya think? Also, do you guys see any problem taking this 3.8 out and dropping in a 3.1?
