    TC is electronically controlled. all the button does is enable it or disable it. when enabled if your front wheels begin to slip the TC will kick in a pull fuel and timing to let your wheels slow down till they get traction again. when TC is disabled the tires will continue to slip. in the 97-03s there is a light that indicates whether TC is on or off. however i am not sure about the 04+ GPs

    I have an '04 GT Widetrack with the basic DIC display. When I hit the button, the DIC displays the status (On/Off)

    I also have a '98 GTP which has a "TCS" button beside the DIC. It illuminates when the wheels lose traction.

    =====
    Now for my question.
    The TCS on my 2004 model has started acting up recently.
    Anti-lock activates at very low speeds on dry pavement ... i.e. coming to a slow stop in a parking lot. Feedback felt through the pedal, and sometimes you wonder if the car will stop in time or not!

    The traction control also activates for no real reason ... i.e. when making a low-speed turn, again on dry pavement. All you hear is a hummm ... but it's there.

    The car is in an independent repair shop right now, and the mechanic (that I trust) is terlling me that there are no stored codes, and no codes being set when the problem presents itself either.

    I've read a few things on the net, and have discovered that Dorman Products offers a replacement wiring harness #970-042 for the RH side only. I have one ordered from NAPA, and should have it tomorrow. I'll try to report back here as to whether it solves the problem or not.

    Problem #2: Starting / Stalling.
    I noticed this behavior shortly after buying the car last September.
    Starts up guages go into "test mode" (?) and sweep to the pin and then back down. If engine continues to run, the Tach reads in the 1000 RPM range. When it stalls, the tach reads 0 (as you would expect) Someimes it fires right up on the second crank, other times ... it stumbles and stalls. Ocassionally, it will do this several times in a row, until you step on the gas and give it a bit of a rev.

    According to what I have read today, cleaning the throttle body (?) seems to fix that. The question mark indicates me wondering if they are talking about the actual "butterfly" area with CRC #75078 or are they referring to cleaning the MAF (Corona Wire) with CRC #75110 MAF Sensor Cleaner?

    Both, right?

    Again, I'll let you know ...

    My '04 GT2 shows the status on the DIC and illuminates a light on the gauge cluster when it's turned off.

    Yep, that Dorman wiring harness seems to have done the trick.

    I drove the car for about a 1/2 hour ... trying all the "usual stuff" that used to trigger it. Happy to report that it seems to work flawlessly!

    I'll try the throttle body and sensor cleaners a bit later, after I clear some room in my garage. (It's summer ... lots of other "projects" on the go.)
