You dont have to take the supercharger apart, just take it off the car. Also, leave the fuel lines connected to the rail and just set the fuel rail to the side.
man, i took it off, got that disc in there, put it all back together, and the left back stud/nut on the fuel rail(standing in front of the car) broke off, while i was test driving it, and started spraying fuel all over, including onto the alternator, and i then it threw the battery, ABS and air bag light on, and soon after i parked in a parking lot it died, and then didnt even have enough power to start. but before i noticed that it was spraying fuel, i still couldnt get more then about 3 psi of boost. so i had it towed to pep boys, good thing they are open tommorow. i hope they will be able to drill the rest of that stud out, or im ****ed.
drill n tap is easy im sure they can
ok. everything is fixed and works fine, cept i havent tried to turn the fogs on yet, so i still dont know if those ballasts are shot, but after gettin the BBV disc in there, im still only getting a max of 3 psi of boost at wot. at idle it stays around 16.5 vac, it used to stay at 19, so i guess somewhere i have a little vac leak, but that shouldnt cause a loss of boost would it? is there someway to test the bbv if it is working right or not?
I still have no idea why I got the case back like that, and I never even thought about checking it until I was about to ship it. I'm just glad that I happen to notice it wasn't in there before I packed it up. If you need any more help, I'll give you my phone number and I'll do my best to help ya out.
I suppose I'm gonna have to start getting REALLY picky about the cores I get back, I've gotten burned 3 times in the last few months with people sending me back incorrect years on throttle bodies, and one 98+ case when I needed a 97 back.
It happens, i just have a crap load of extra parts layin around and that doesnt happen.
vac leak
well, another problem, i just broke the T fitting for the short line that goes from the BBV to the top of the case. anyone know where i can get that whole cap from?(the one that has the big brake booster line on it and the two other vac lines) car - Picture circled in blue.
You can get it from a dealer in a pinch, the part number is 24503488. I'd suggest getting a new seal for that too, since they tend to get all stretched out, which could be another source for your vacuum leak.
i got one on the way from Teewx, along with a oring. im gonna have to replace that short line too, cuz it tore. i hope that will fix that vac leak. if not, replace all lines, if that doesnt, then replace the bbv, if that doesnt, then i dont know what the **** it would be. right now anytime i gas it, not even wot, it goes right to 3 psi, and wont go past. gotta be a leak.
lol thanks for the part number btw. you gonna be my parts number guy now too? i wrote that down, cuz with my luck, i will break it again.
wow that suck hope ur bad luck goes away and goodluck with your car
alright, i think i might have got the vac leak fixed, but there's a catch, let me explain.
First off, i did three things, i replaced the cap with the 3 t's and put a fat new oring on it(courtesy of Teewx lol), re-adjusted the round canister bracket to make sure it was EXACTLY where it should be, replaced the short fat line from the cap to canister. also, the connection for the actuator(the thing with the two nipples, top one left open) was unplugged, BUT, i might have just unplugged it when i took it off to get at the canister bracket bolts, i didnt pay attention to it, until i noticed it was unplugged, so that coulda been a dumb mistake that i never noticed lol.
anyway, now i get full boost, back up to ~8.5 psi(thats where it was when i did before my "weekend of doom" lol, with a 3.4 pulley. BUT i did put a ported case on and changed to a 3.3 pulley, wouldnt that get me a little more boost)
so it seems to be fixed right? well..... on the vac side of things..
starting it up, and letting it idle, in park and nuetral, it goes down to ~-20, stays there for about 5 seconds, then jumps right to -17.1 and stays there. does not move unless i give it some gas, and then it does the same, down to 20, then up to 17. when i put it in reverse at idle, it goes to -15.9 and stays, when i put it in drive, it fluctuates between -18.5 and -17.9, seeming to stabilize halfway in between.
is this normal, am i just stressing it cuz its been ****ed up for a whole week and now im paranoid, or do i really have something to worry about? one more note, when in throttle, if im not 100% wot, it will catch at around 5-6 psi for not even a second, then go up to 8ish, probably nothing, but if i remember right.. i dont think it did that before, but i honestly dont remember lol.
any help or comments appreciated, thanks.
it would usually stay around -19. but then again, i would only look at it for a second or two, then start backin out of the garage or my parking space or whatever, then i wouldnt really pay attention to it unless i was gettin on it. so it coulda been doin the jump before and i just never noticed.
Honestly, I wouldn't sweat it. If your MPG changes dramatically, you might have a vacuum leak. But I think that you're fine. That sounds almost like EGR opening, for the record. You can unplug it and see if that makes a difference.
well, it did seem to get sucky mileage since i filled up, but that was before i just fixed it. i guess ill moniter that on my next tank. your talkin about unpluggin the eletrical connection on the egr right?
Affirmative. You'll get the SES light, but the valve will not open which is what you want.
