Idk if i am posting this in the wrong thread but if i am i do apologize and hopefully someone can move it.
ok now that i cleared that up, my question here is does anyone know if running a IC on our gps is illegal in CA. I live in orange county and laws here in ca are a PITA.. i do plan on going ic as well as e85 sometime in the future but i wanted to know if i can legally pull this off or not as i do not want to take this off and reinstall every time i get pulled over and get my hood popped open it is a B***h moding with the laws here.
Hopefully someone can answer this for me thanks in advance for the help fellas.
if anyone knows the answer to e85 as well go ahead and join in as i do want to know for both IC & E85.

i googled a bit and found this Aftermarket intercooler smog! - DSM Forums the pages shown are from 2002, so i hope its still up to date for you, but it looks like you will be ok, all the factory emissions, evap and what not need to be on the car and working. and i'd use black hose to make it all blend in better so it looks like it belongs on the engine.

CA sucks worse than NJ ever was...

well mainly my concern is just knowing if it is legal or not because i know for sure a ref will be able to tell even if it is painted or not..

Yeah it does but hey thats cali for ya. from what you posted it does seem like as long as all evap and emission are hooked up and not tampered with it will be ok hopefully because i do plan on doing this..

    any idea on the E85?

sorry i dont, but there are plenty of threads regarding E85, just use the search box at the top of the page. lots of ppl have done it and love it.

i've yet to even see a E 85 pump here in jersey to date. so its not an option for me yet.

Same here Cali denied the law of the new builds for E85 stations there is only two that I know of one in Pomona about 30m away from me and other in San Diego 2hrs away :/ dang laws.
Do u know how hard it is to tune with it I've heard it can be a pain in the ass

e 85 has been done with little to no problems from what ive read here,( you will need a new tune for it, and injectors)

30 miles away is a long ride just to gas up if you ask me, and then you are suck in your home range unless you plan long trips you may make by mapping out E 85 stations. thats the only draw back i see, is a lack of stations that sell it.

    get a rad from a 92 golf with A/C.

    CU89 or CU98 can't remember which one.

But get that instead of a FMHE.

    Blends in much better.

Well heck if it isn't to hard to do I might just do it.. It's just the lack of stations and I ment 30minutes so not toooooo far but still practically 30 miles lol
But then comes the question is it worth it?

I'd think an IC would be fine, the big thing is to keep a stock "look" colors and chrome scare people. Most people here in CA are stupid and if you had a stock car with red spark plug wires they'd probably freak and think you have all kindsa mods done and can haul. But you could have a race car and if it all looks black or steel, you'd probably be fine hah.

Or when you get a zzp or any other fmhe get a decent set of grills and it'll be covered up. As long as you notch yer bumper and raise it of course.

I know what you mean but thing is I don't want to keep my engine bay stock at all which is y I want to know if it's legal or not because when I put my Gen v on I wanted polished and of course some things are painted in the engine bay practically all of the engine but nothing crazy just black and grey and some blue. So what it comes down too if it is legal I don't have to worry about crap just make it look nice so that if a cop pulls me over he won't think it's a freaken crazy moded car lol

They all end up under the blower...its the front mount heat exchanger that's gonna be up front regardless. There's an easy fix to this. Move out of cali if you want a modded car with no pain involved.
