Not in every case. I have the same problem on mine. I disconnected the plastic clip on the back side of the filter, took the bracket off the filter and pulled on the wrenches as hard as I dared to. Switched to vice grips and it still didn't budge one bit. I have a fuel line repair kit I'm going to splice in to fix it.Quote:

Letting my buddy with a lift try it, thinking it has something to do with the leverage of laying on the ground, and only being able to get the car on low profile ramps.
You should have used line wrenches from the start... But now the thing is torn to **** so you have to replace it regardless.
My suggestion.
First take your new filter to the auto store. Get a length of tubing and a fitting that will screw into the filter.
Get back under the car with a tubing cutter. Cut the line going to the filter. Take the filter out. Use a tubing flaring kit to flare the end of the tube. eyeball the tubing you bought for size. Leave room for a little movement. Flare it as well. Slide a piece of rubber fuel line over the ends and secure it with a couple clamps.
Putting a flare on the tube will prevent the hose from backing off and spraying fuel all over.
This type of stuff makes a 10 minute job turn into a all day job.
If you are going to flare the line how about just putting a new fitting on it and doing it right.:th_thumbsup-wink:Quote:

I would just cut the rusted line off, get a new section of tubing so that when you cut the damaged section out you will have enough length to reach the fuel filter.Install the new piece of line with the correct fitting for the fuel filter and you can use a compression fitting to connect the lines but i would just flare them and install a union fitting to join the two ends.Not that hard to do, just takes more time to do and is a better long term solution than installing rubber fuel line with hose clamps.:th_thumbsup-wink:
yo i had the same **** happen to mine and i took it to the mechs down the block and the dude couldn't take it off so he hack sawed it and he went to get new fittinngs, rubber tubing and clamps. he got the new filter on it on but the filter is sitting lower and i'am afraid that its gonna get funked up in the winter since my GP is sitting low..my ignition got a lil sucky after too..later i talked to a friend at work thats a mech and he said i should replace the whole line in there. i kinda was thinking that already too so i went to the dealer to finda a new line but they were not available for my specific GP GT NA L36 but they sold me a L67 SC line...SO the BIG question is: will i be able to do this? will this fit?? it comes with flex line.....
Dorman makes a fuel line repair kit just for doing this. I have the same problem and just have not gotten around to doing it yet. Just get that pipe cutter listed above then use the repair kit. It comes with a length of fuel line and the compression fitting for it. The only bad thing is you might have to bend the fuel line in the kit to make it fit right. I have a rigid pipe bender to accomplish that but you could take it someplace and have them do it. Here is the link to the kit:

Only difference is the other connectors have a 90* at the end instead of a straight piece.
Shouldn't make a difference.
