Hey in the past 2 weeks i have been researching what mods i want to pay for. I have 600 dollars to work with. I did read " Safely Modding Your 3800" and found it helpful. But i would like mixed opinions with what to buy first up to my 600 dollar budget. My 2000 grand prix GTP is stock. Also since i bought the car last summer it feels like it has become very sluggish. Once again i had read " Safely Modding your 3800" so please dont refer me there. Thanks , hope you can all help.

Id give it a good tune up, (plugs, fuel filter, air filter(opencone Maybe), a seafoam treatment,
then id look into a tune dhp, intense, overkill,
ssac headers or speeddaddys if they still have them
    thats getting close

98 gtp sedan forest green ,S1X intense cam,Intense pcm,Magnaflow exhaust, ubend delete,TEP trans 3.29's,3.4 smoothflow mps,Dyno'd 281hp and 371ft #'s of trq at the wheels

    sell, get something RWD.

    PROBLEM SOLVED!

And if you REALLY want a 3800 powered car then get a 3800 4th gen maro and turbo it and be done already.

The becoming sluggish could be a million things.

Check for clogged cat, change blower fluid, tranny fluid, engine oil, new intake.

Feels like it has become sluggish because you have gotten used to its powerband. Buy a set of Headers, 180* T Stat, Autolite 104's, Air Filter to put on your TB, and a Modular Pulley System like Intense or ZZP.
1999 GTPHP Tuned, Ported SC/TB, 42#'s, SSAC's, ZZP Modded 1.9's/LS6 Springs/Manley's, TransGo Shift Kit, Poly Uppers, KYB GR2's/Springtech's. - 231k and traded it in. - Gone
    2000 GTP: XP, P&P'd Heads, N*\Lq4 MAF, GenV, 42#'s, PRJ Rails\FPR, Racetronix, TEP w/ 3.29 Gears, 300m, 7/8" chain, SSAC's. - Collecting dust in my garage.

Yeah...because bringing more air in then letting it breathe is smart.

Are you comfortable constipated? Neither is your flow starving car.

i say buy a dremil and port everything (lower intake, throttle body, sc) as you will at some point need to change your lim gasket anyways this kills two birds with one stone so for $100 you got a new lim gasket, a cool new tool, more air, and less knock. while u got it apart check your coupler and sc bearings and change your sc oil. next get yourself some pvc from lowes and a cone filter and make a cheap cold air intake. thats two hundred. next u bend delete (get a welder and a piece of pipe(hell take out the resisnator too)), a used 3.4" pulley, and a tune. okay thats $400 and add 50 for a machine shop to press the pulley(hopefully u know someone with the tool so save this fee. now plugs, wires, pcv valve, fuel filter, 180 degree stat, and an oil change. now thats $600 well spent.
