so a buddy of mine bought a gtp recently, and it came with an autotap code scanner.. unfortunatley the software with it was made for windows 95 or something crazy like that, so he went online and downloaded a few newer versions and we tried to scan my car.. laptop says it cant connect we tried probably three or four times, then the car would start for a few seconds then die.. so i tried a security relearn.. this got the car running but security light blinks.. occasionally will go off but then right back on.. so last night i tried doing a security relearn again to get the light to shut off.. this time the car wont start at all.. so i did the other security relearn (out of the 2 on zzp since they were all i found) and the light went off, pulled the car in the garage and when we went to pull it out.. surprise, security light is back.. what could i have done and what the hell can i do to shut this light off?? it also feels like if i try to go WOT the car wont really let itself, and that wasnt a problem before this light

Are you using a passkey? ... has PK stamped on the key... or a valet key (no chip) inside.

A lot of the cars have a problem with the harness for the pass key system that is attached to the steering column. Mine randomly started having problems with it too, I have not bought the updated harness yet Every now and then I just have to do a relearn. The harness is not cheap IIRC it was like $80-120 our cost.

    Antitheft System - Engine Stalling/Multiple DTC's Set

File In Section: 08 - Body and Accessories
    Bulletin No.: 02-08-56-002
    Date: November, 2002
    TECHNICAL
    Subject:
Engine Stalls, Security Lamp Illuminated, DTCS P1626, P1629, B2955, B2960, B3022, B3023, B3024, B3025 Set (Replace Theft Deterrent Control Module)
    Models:
2000-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix Built Prior to VIN Breakpoint 3F115058
    Condition
Some customers may comment that the vehicle starts then stalls and the security lamp is illuminated. These symptoms may be intermittent and after several start attempts, the vehicle may stay running. Upon investigation, the technician may find DTCs P1626, P1629, B2955, B2960, B3022, B3023, B3024, B3025 set and the PASS-KEY III(R) fuse blown.
    Cause
This condition may be caused by either a chafed wire in the theft deterrent module wiring harness or an electrical interference within the theft deterrent module not allowing the fuel enable signal to be detected.
    Correction
Replace the theft deterrent module with P/N 10335045 and reroute the module wiring harness to a new location using the procedure listed below.
    1. Replace the theft deterrent module. Refer to the Theft Deterrent Control Module Replacement procedure in the Theft Deterrent sub-section of the Service Manual.

    2. Reroute the module harness (1) on the outside of the steering column channel and tie strap the lower portion to the larger ignition bundle.
    3. Replace the tie strap removed from the tilt head during disassembly. Secure the new strap in the hole in the tilt mechanism and around the module wires and the ignition and SIR wires, but below the tie strap located on the SIR wires.

    Parts Information
Parts are available 11/11/02 from GMSPO.
    Warranty Information

For vehicles repaired under warranty, use the table.
