I have a 97 grand prix gt... It seems mostly when I take a sharper left turn from a stop and accelerate, I lose power to the wheels and it revs like its in neutral, and then catches and almost kinda slams back in.. Also notice it under a hard acceleration. The tires will spin, and I loose power it revs and slams back and I can accelerate normal. The trans fluid level seems okay. Other than that the trans seems to shift into all gears fine. Any ideas on what it could be would be great, Thanks!

Thanks for the driving tip... And I dont rag on it, I havnt owned the car long, and I have gotten on it a couple times and noticed that. But the turning and accelerating slipping problem doesnt happen when im going fast... its as simple as turning out of a left hand turn lane under easy acceleration...

Oh and another thing i noticed since I got the car... The needle on the temp sensor never moves much while driving... Like a few notches from cold... It will however climb up and the fans will kick on if I just let it sit idling for a while.... Thermostat messed up?

mine will climb from 160ish to 200ish when sitting... stays at 160ish while driving.. thats normal... whats happening with trans is when u go around a corner fast fluid sloshes to one side and starves itself..

Yeah seems to be okay with fluid in it. Now to watch for leaking... I put a little over 2 quarts in=O and 160 would be like a few bars under half? 200 being half? While driving it gets like 2-3 lines up from zero... not even getting to a quarter.

temps are fine... pan gasket is a common leak point.

Kk, thanks. And yeah it looked like there was some fluid around the pan.. Ill keep an eye on it.

And im sure this has been beat to piss, some high school kid had it and I baught it from his dad, he said he had to replace the motor because his dumbass son never got an oil change and blew the motor up. So god knows how the trans is, but for now with fluid it seems to be fine. Oh and the wheels are all bent to ****, so he musta jumped curbs and what not so it shakes going down the road, and he hacked the stereo install up on it, and it almost caught fire lol... enough ranting... Thanks for the replies!

Well one of the trail arms was busted and the tires were ****, so I didn't test drive it much only through residential... So had no clue the wheels were bent until I got new tires on it... Couldn't tell the radio was hacked as bad as it was untill I was turning and it started sparking and smoking lol.... Other than that it was cheap, and the best I found for the price around here heh. Paid 1300 for it... 200k on body and ~100k on motor. Leather is in really nice shape for a 97 too...
