Okay, I essentially want to know if i can take the shift knob from a 1995-1999 Chevy Monte Carlo/Lumina and put it in my GTP. I know most of the GM knobs are universal (had my friends firebirds knob in my old Cavalier) but will this knob work in a GP???

I couldn't really find any better picture then these of the knob im looking for:

Chevrolet : Monte Carlo | eBay

I know im going to have to do something with the performance shift, but does anyone know if the knob will just slide right in like the rest of the GM family??

Now.. if ya put in say a 00+ Bonneville leather wrapped shifter aka GA upper model shifter. That baby screams "pull me back and slam the throttle".
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

bill, i tell ya your talking to a guy who's been driving column shifters for the last 20 years, so im kinda liking it, ill have to look into the bonnie shifter knob i've never seen one.

the last car i had with a floor shift was my 70 firebird so the regals shifter is like a old friend, very similar minus the ratchet shift from 1 to 2 to 3 gear.

Dear god the shifter in the link you posted is ugly..

    I hate those T-bar style.

I'd say through a nice aftermarket shifter on there (manual style, much nicer without the buttons on it) and relocate the performance shift button.

Thats really nice except for the price tag, personally i'm not too big a fan of the top button ones, had one in my cavalier and wasn't too fond of it, hand placement was always confusing. But hey if you like it, save yo pennies and buy dat beach!
