I thought my car had a bad hub assembly so I went ahead and swapped it out but turns out it is not my problem. I really only hear the humming/growling noise above 40mph and its coming from the passenger front tire. Any ideas thanks!!

been having somewhat same problem tho mines only when turning left from a stop. feels more like a rattle than grinding.

theres also a slight hum around 45ish. just rotated tires today and overlooked everything to see if something was broke or bent and didnt see anything.

axle easy to replace or take it to the shop?

the sound doesn't really change during turns, its noticeable about 30mph, gradually increases. CV Axle or should I change my other hub... getting tires rebalanced tomorrow along with an alignment.... or should I hold off until i replace the 2nd hub?

CV axles only clunk and vibrate. They don't hum.

Camber bolts... I do not have any knowledge or experience with these... I found some on pfyc.com is there a better set out there?

so get the bolts then get the alignment?... if that doesnt fix the humming noise and then I replace the other hub or axles will I need another alignment?

Just looking for best approach to save $

I am having a simmilar problem. My left front wheel humms but it stops when I turn the wheel left. The hum goes faster as the speed increases. The previous owner hydroplaned and the car hit a sign on the left front. I had to have the front end aligned. Would it be the axle? The car is a 2000 GTP.

It is possible. However, in the three years I have been a Tech I have never seen it. Usually the reason the car still hums after bearing replacement is misdiagnosis of which wheel, or on a rare occasion, both are bad.

I took it in to belle tire and they told me both front hubs are bad. Before they looked at it I told em I just wanted to figure out what was wrong before I got an alignment aand I would do the work myself.

So timikens the way to go? Is there a certain one I should stay away from like the autozone ones? What about the ones on Rockauto.

    Thankss

How difficult is it to replace a front bearing on a 2000 GTP?

i bought these from summit, all metal construction, not like that crappy plastic cover on the ZZP ones, this company is made in the USA and they supply the bearings to timken, i checked them out on google prior to buying them. not bad for 100 each
