Ok, I feel really stupid having to ask this...but where the hell are the spark plugs on my 2000 Daytona GTP? Now before I get laughed off the internet let me explain myself.

I though they were just to the left of the engine (when looking at it from the front) you know the place where the 6 plug wire looking wires go to. My confusion stems from hearing people talking about having to rock their engines forward to get at the spark plugs buried behind the motor. On my car it looks like I could change what appears to be the plugs with a few sockets and 15 minutes. I am losing my marbles here or what?

Hehe.. Those things to the “left” are the coil packs, you don’t need to mess with them. Your plugs are on the other end of those wires. Spark plug changes aren’t bad on GPs. What you heard about rocking the engine is a technique that allows better access to the rear (3) spark plugs. You rock the engine by un-bolting both of the upper engine mounts (most ppl call them dog bones). Then hold the engine rocked forward with a strap or use the secret extra mount notch.

And to answer your question, you’re half loosing it.
People just like to complain, changing plugs is dang near as easy as changing a tire.

Ten years of continuous driving excitement and counting!

yeah, you dont even need to rock the motor forward to get at the back plugs, to me it seems like more of a waste of time than it helps but if you do have trouble getting at the plugs, i guess its always an option. i've put 3 sets of plugs in my car without undoing the dogbones

After 65000 miles, my wires were on there tight. It would have saved me a lot of frustration to have rocked my engine forward, but probably not any time. Managed to drop the far left rear plug because of the slim access. For something you do far less than oil changes, it's okay to put up with a few minutes of frustration, I guess.

Well I know this post is several weeks old now but I wanted to thank everyone who took the time to answer my question and to be way friendlier than that kind of question deserved.

I've since changed out the plugs (and everyone was right no motor rocking needed, and only 1 bloody knuckle!) I had some bigger plans for the car performance wise but after realizing I confused spark plugs and coil packs I'm going to put the brakes on a for a bit and take it easy.
