Has anyone considered retro-fitting a set of bi-xenon projectors into a stock headlight housing? I think I'm going to give it a try over the next few months. All of the projector housings out on the market seem to use smaller bulbs and render the high beams useless.

My (and a friend's) idea is to use a set of FX-R projectors from The Retrofit Source and fit them into a spare set of stock-style housings. If I decide to do it, I'll do a full picture step-by-step on the whole project.

Got any pictures? I'd like to see how you're doing it. What capsules are you using?

Just ordered a pair of FX-R's. Hopefully they will be here by the weekend so I can get started. I will probably end up going with a set of Phillips bulbs, but keep my PNP ballasts with adapters (for now).

Got a little bit of work done yesterday. Unfortunately, my camera took a crap on me, so I only have a few I took with my cell phone.

The project is far from finished. The housing has a huge hole cut out of the bottom and the FX-R is being held in place by a 7mm wrench... I will probably be blacking out the turn signal/corner marker, but leaving the orange reflector in.

Slow goings this past week... too much other crap to take care of. It should be finished before the end of the month, however. I have to move out by then...

Finally picked the project back up... Got one mounted in the housing and all blacked out. Now I move on to the passenger side. I'm hoping to finish the mounting process tonight so I can get them aligned and painted and possibly finished by this weekend...we'll see

    FX-Rs are a bit bulky.

I just did some work with the morimoto mini's and you know what, they are so small and easy to work with.

Good work so far, looks like your taking all the right steps to doing a proper retrofit.

If the new morimotos were available when I started this project, I would have gone that route. I'll get some more pictures of my project for you all.

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever finish this project? I'd like more details, as I'd MUCH rather run the fx-r than the mini h1, there's no real comparison in output. The mini just doesn't do it for me, and I wanna run oem bulbs + ballasts. I'd like to see some pics of how you mounted it + sealed up the back. I was thinking about cutting out the back of the light, inserting the projector from the rear, and using jb weld to hold it in, which I've seen done successfully on other cars in the past.
