    Hello everyone,

The problem i'm having is that my key always gets stuck in the ignition when i turn the car off. Also when i press the brake pedal it won't release the shifter and won't allow to shift out of park without pressing the shift lock release. Checked the shifter solenoid, its working. Checked the solenoid that releases the key, also works fine. I unfortunately don't know what i need to do next. Please, if someone here can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry its a 2003 Grand Prix GT, if that helps.

    Thank You!

I just took the white solenoid thingy that's next to the key hole. My GT used to never give me the key back, luckily, the key just slid out anyways in whatever position lol

So yea, take out the white solenoid to solve the key problem. When you take apart the steering wheel cover, it's white and next to the ignition switch.

There is probably a broken wire going to the park lock deal by the shifter.

I'm sorry I checked the shifter plug for continuity on my own as well as my son's (who also owns the same car) and the results were similar. The answer for the solenoid on the steering column is also the same. When i put the parts from my own car on my son's car they all seem to work but for some reason on mine they just don't work right. Hope this sheds a diffterent light on the problem i posted earlier.

when my car did this, it was the shifter solnoid (spelling errors). It was an expensive part, but at least i got a new shifter.
Life goes by so fast, so why drive slow.

to help with the key issue theres a hole just below your key on the bottom of the steering column. put a pen in there and itll release the key. as for the shift... try the brakelight switch my friend couldnt get his outta park and his brakelights did work but he replaced it anyways and it did the trick.... hope this helps
