My buddy recently bought a 2000 gtp and it has a few issues that maybe some of you could help me out with. I have a lot of knowlege on LSX engines not so much on the 3800 so i need some help. First it was throwing maf and vaf codes which was fixed by a new MAF. Now while driving it randomly cuts power almost like a limp mode on my gto. ANyone have a theory on this. ALso randomly his "temp" light goes on and off but the car is not running hot. Could this cause the ECU to cut power? Another issue is that the ABS light is on and the trac control says its off all the time which its not. I feel like this may be a wheel speed sensor or something? And probably the biggest issue is that there is grinding noise coming from the supercharger and it wont make full boost.. just kinda jumpa around. I have heard a bunch of theorys on this but I suspect a rebuilt supercharger is what he needs. ANy help anyone could give me would be great I really want him to get his car going and start to enjoy it. Thanks in advance

ABS + TRAC = wheel bearing.

the 'grinding' is probably a worn coupler. it sounds like rocks in a tumbler.

Can you scan it? Check to see what the engine temp. sensor is doing. If it is broke or a wire is grounding, it may cause the car to run pretty bad due to a few tables in the pcm based off of engine temp, such as AFR and timing. May cause a bad idle or hard start at times.

Yeah he can use his scan tool at school ill have him tell me what it says. On my GTO if something happens it goes into "limp mode" where is just cuts the power it is acting just like that so im guessing thats what it is.

he scanned it at his school.. it read that the ABS unit itself is malfunctioning. is there a delete kit for the abs?
