Not sure if that year of car will work with the OBDII scanners. I bought the following scanner for my 03 GT in January and really like it.

    Actron CP9410 from Amazon.com

Amazon.com: Actron CP9410 PocketScan Plus Diagnostic Code Reader for OBDII Vehicles: Automotive

Hope this helps others looking to purchase a scanner. Read the reviews before buying, the model has a few minor flaws.

OBD2 is only for 97 or newer, l believe your car is OBD 1. I believe they make a scanner for that but it is a much more primitive system I do believe.
