i installed my hids a couple days ago, no relay harness, they worked fine up until last night. I drove home and they were on, turn my car off, went inside, came back out turned it on... no headlights. So i thought maybe its something random (it is FREEZING out) next morning i have to drive to work in the dark. headlights wont turn on tried the switch to, no difference (yes i had my drls on before this post). Today when i got home from work i did my searches and research and i checked the drl fuse and headlight fuse, both fine, took the drl fuse out for ****s, nothing. unplugged the drls entirely, nothing. tried my stock bulb on my driver side headlight, that didnt work. Ive come to the conclusion I have a short somewhere or my stock wiring harnesses are fried, which i doubt. Another thing i read said to check the headlight ground wire, well its heavily snowing outside and ive done enough snooping in my engine to go and look. I took my headlight out earlier to check the bulb and looked for the ground wire, couldnt find it. Is it mounted under something somewhere or what? Can someone in a warmer climate or garage post a clear picture of the location of the ground wire. Also, any other thoughts on my issue would be appreciated.

Ive owned this car for about a week and its stupid issue after stupid issue. My turn signals didnt work when I bought it so I drove without them for a couple days then went to autozone to check my flasher. Could not find the flasher, used their haynes manual, couldnt find it, gave up. Got in my car and went to pull out of the parking lot and tried my signals for ****s, all of a sudden they worked.

When i installed my HID kit my passenger side headlight wouldnt work (before HiD install). It never did so i figured it was the bulb, swapped the bulbs, still didnt work. I checked the wiring harness and it looked like someone cut the wires and respliced them to a grey connector. Mind you one corner has the 194 blinker and the other doesnt, this is the one that doesnt. So, the wires are spliced badly (crap electrical tape job) they are corroded, the tape doesnt even cover the whole connection. So i take them apart and re-do tape and twist everything. Headlight still doesnt work so I check it in reference with the passenger side and on the black connector theres abcd (working.) for example 1 went to a 2 to b 3 to c, etc. On the driver side headlight 1 went to c, 2 went to b and 3 went to c. So i flipped them, put in the bulb and it works... but only went i hold it pointing up. So after much troubleshooting I found that the connector wasnt making a good connection, i installed my hids and ziptied the connector the adapter for the hid wires (to the bulb.) Now they worked (hooray) two days later (today) they dont. My resplicing job is still secure by the way.

Might i add that neither headlights work, no flickering, no nothing, blinkers work, fuses are fine, drls are unplugged.

theres a sense of urgency in this matter since my drive to work is 6am and pitch black down the same street as the police station and this car isnt registered or insured yet.

    thanks
sorry if i rambled but i figured all details should help

im going to buy a wire harness relay, or make on, but since even the stock bulbs dont work, thats not on my to do list just yet

Well there was too many words on your post for me to read (I have ADD)... but from what I gathered ... you had HID's hooked up. Unhook them, and put a stock bulb on. See if it lights up... if so, then its your HID setup.

Another simple thing to do ... is get a voltmeter and put on your stock headlight harness.

Also, make sure you check EVERY fuse in the car.

    Good Luck.

i tried with a stock bulb and that didnt work, you think it would blow out a random fuse?

Well if you had HID's hooked up with no harness... ie.. using stock wiring harness.. there is a good chance your either melted some wires, or blew a fuse.

My opinion would be to use a voltmeter to see if power is getting to the socket. It sounds like it isnt, if you have removed the hid setup for further testing.

Anything else electrical all jacked up? Like cig lighter... or any interior lights out?

no everything works fine, ive heard of people upgrading their wiring harness, how do i go about that, is it the ENTIRE thing, or just a headlight connector? can i get some from an autoparts store? id have to cut and splice a new connector right?

All i relay does, is redirects the +12v from your battery rather than you headlight wiring.

    http://www.xerayusa.com/hid/webimages/relaywiring.jpg

    is an example of this.

However, this will NOT work for you unless your getting the volts out of the OEM headlamp sockets.

Trace it back... fuses are the obvious first step. Inspect all wires for cuts.. use a voltmeter.
