    Hi Guys!!

    I just bought a Grand prix GT 1998 3.1L
    and the car is overheating...., If a run with it it's fine,
    the heat works and it's stay fine too...
    but soon as i stop 5 or 10 min whitout the heat the car start to overheat,
    The radiator fan start but it's starts to high (at 125) in red section
    theres no oil in prestone, no prestone in the oil, i changed the
    prestone for new one, no leaking from the engine....
    Can anyone help me to find my probleme????
    is it a head gasket, water pump, intake gasket???

    I'd say your issue is in the water pump or thermostat.
    98 GTP - Autolite 104s, wires, 180* t-stat, fwi, catless dp and plog, glasspack res, Reptile tuned PCM, tinted tails.
    91 Toyota MR2 Turbo - 327RWHP 322RWTQ 11.48@122mph
    03 BMW 325i - tint. stock.

    You have _enough_ coolant in, correct?

    Start with the thermostat, go from there.

    This is your problem... fix that.

    Do the fans come on low when you turn on your A/C?

    FYI guys, montreal is in canada which means that is 125* C not F... which is 257* F.

    I'd say check the Thermostat first the water pump is a real pain to replace.

    #1 water pumps on the 3.1 are cake work.
    #2 the t-stat is 20X more a pita to replace on those engines
    #3 this thread is 8 months old /thread.
