about to do some mods to my car.... Ported throttle body, CAI, Degree colder plugs, Intense pcm, and a downpipe. So i was wondering do i stick with the 3.8 pulley, or go down to a 3.6, but, theres no way im getting tuned for more timing since i dont have that sort of money.

skip the plugs and run the stock pulley.

no KR = faster than more boost + KR

thanks ya i read that, and im gonna end up doing a Power log ontop of those other mods, and a friend of mine has a scan gauge i can use, but the question is what pulley do i get now, pretty sure with all those mods i can lower to a 3.6 with alot of timing still, or maybe lower????

FWI, Powerlog, U-bend delete, 104's 180*stat, Intense pcm, and a good downpipe on a stock pulley is going to be close to being KR free on some cars, NOT all cars. Try to get it scanned before dropping any pulleys! If your KR free and you don't want to go to the 3.4 look at the 3.5, the 3.6 is more for the Gen III series s/c motors.

Buy the 3.4 then scan. If you have KR, then you need more supporting mods. Take the 3.4 off and put the 3.8 back on till you put the new mods on. Then once the new mods are in place, put the 3.4 back on and scan. Buy a modular pulley kit in the first place and this wont be nearly as hard.

exhaust is really a waste unless your doing some serious work pushing 350hp. skip the exhaust and run headers and a DP, if i had that kind of money id get some headers.

Headers are $151+ S&H...how is that any more money than a downpipe?

Why not just read the Safely Modding Your 3800 thread instead? All the info is there for you.

my dad works for an auto insurance company :/ so unfortunately if it doesnt "look stock" in the engine im not gonna get away with it, thats why i cant really mod past a 3.4 set up, can't do meth, cant do headers, cant do RR. im told even a CAI, your supposed to pay a "surcharge" of like 250 a yr or something. Im 17 years old, i dont need to pay anymore in insurance lol

Umm how in the hell does an insurance company know you have rockers. I mean they would physically have to take your valve covers off and inspect. No one does that. Plus the GTX's came with upgraded rockers and a CAI.

Your Dad Mod and don't let him know about it.
