Great video, and great info.

When I remove my main caps, the bearings are never going to be reused, so "massaging" them out with a plastic or rubber mallet is what I usually do. But your tool looks very useful regardless if the bearings are going to be used again or not. Seen many times, people e-ffing up their main caps or cranks by swinging the BFH at them.

finally getting around to more detailed pics...

3x1/2" redhead sleeved concrete anchor

after modifications

you can see the 3.550 c2c 1/2in holes and the center hole tapped to 1/2x13 for my K-D slide hammer (any of ya with pullers with anything other than 1/2 coarse thread?)

the only other acceptable than this is a 2x4 wrapped with a rag and slid through the bores to whack against the crank counterweights.

this is many times faster though

on a side note... i've pulled spun bearing mains and had them mic to spec... the riv is getting its OE bearings reinstalled except for the cam...since they will be destroyed when the block get drilled #2&3 mains and a step drilled main galley

James, you are one innovative person. I would so love to come and spend a week with you and others on this board like Trannyman, Ron Vogel, Toasty, Reptile, UR LOSN, Farnsworth, and so many others that would take me forever to list. You guys just rock with your simple down home extremely effective solutions to things.

Very impressive. If you ever get around to making these for sale, let me know. Oh, also, if you ever get around to digitizing your notebook for the WWW, let me know as well I would love to be a part of that.

wait till you see the final version of the rear balance shaft bearing plug and the oil pump priming tool i got in my head, only issue with this is that people will need to use the JP with its two pice crank gear to prime it without javing to pull it apart to put the crank gear on...

a pressurized oil accumulator plumbed into the oil pres sending unit port can work just as well but i recognize that people may want a different method of priming the oil galleys

majority of my time is taken up with work and the new fuel log jigs, but someday all my crap will be organized lol

I would love to learn to do all that you do. I would like to learn how to disassemble my engine and put it all back together, and work of course. Its something I have never done and I would like to do it one time, go through it, rebuild it using the best I can afford and just put it all back together.

just from some of the things you have spoken about I have no doubts you could rebuild your engine, it is extremely easy to do if you pay attention to details

quite true... measure thrice cut once... attention to detail and a good notebook for spec's clearances is alot of it....

Maybe, and I appreciate the vote of confidence. But stuff like that scares me, more so just because Ive never done it though. To say nothing that I probably dont have all the proper tools. But one of these days I hope to do so. If for no other reason than to just say I have.

where can you get the concrete anchor?

where does it need to be clearanced, etc....could you post more details ??

Thanks man its because I have been all excited about rebuilding my motor and Im having difficulty removing the main caps...had no idea they were pressed in lol...Got one off (#1) but cant get the others off...gonna try pounding on the crank with something(got a new one anyways)

Well I got the caps off with a mallet, a 2x4, a screwdriver, and a rag....but I would still like to know more info on this as Im sure I will tear it back down once I either 1. get a turbo on there and need to swap to lower compression pistons or 2. fry a piston or two with nitrous.
