    Speed Daddy's are a lot EASIER than most as long as you get the clamps and use the copper RTV. I had mine on and off the car twice in an evening with a C body car.

    but im a W-Body.
    Would there be any extra cutting and stuff that a shop would need to do?
    plus the problem is i need a retune then, and theres like no one around here who can do it.
    and ive messaged Overkill and no response so lol.
    I dont mind paying them to retune but if i cant even get someone to do it, then i wont do headers. Just 2.5" magnaflow exhaust setup.

    no extra cutting and welding if you go catless. otherwise with an aftermarket cat it could slip on and clamp with minor effort. It could even end up bolting directly to a stock catback if you measure twice and cut once. There is no need for a shop to do any of this work if you have a decent set of sockets, wrenches, a jack and a set of jackstands.

    Almost any off the shelf tune can disable the cat diagnostic test for 01+ vehicles.

    Will (Overkill) pops on from time to time. it may take a bit but he will get back to you.

    adding headers, does NOT require a tune.

    you are just unlocking more by adding headers, so that way a tune can be used better.

    there is a good chance that even with an aftermarket cat an 01+ vehicle may get stuck in a diagnostic loop of sorts if it does not see an adequate response when it runs a self check on the cat. if you have no cat the car will be stuck pig rich and even if you have some aftermarket cats because they are less efficient it may cause the same condition.

    A tune is certainly recommended to disable this diagnostic test.

    you cant with hptuners and as far as I know you cant with dhp.

    I'm probably gonna get laughed at but I'm gonna have to ask this.

    I want to install headers in my car but NJ has those California low emission laws too. If I got headers install would my car fail emissions (I'm going to keep the catalytic converter) even if it doesn't throw out any codes?

    If the inspector is anal enough and there's no sticker that says it's emission compliant then chances are you will fail. Then again most inspectors aren't that anal and will just check for a cat.

    TOGS include a sticker with there headers. No sure about the cheap ones like Speed daddy etc.

    Ok, I'm liking the Pace Setters and want to keep the Stock exhaust after the cat... Anyone here can relate their experience on the install and list all the pieces I would need. I would rather use the step s/s step clamps than weld if that's possible.

    I appreciate any suggestions and info.

    I'm wondering, is there any merit to this statement? I'm shopping for a 3" cat to add to the SD's I bought. Would say, a 3" magnaflow as opposed to stock really have potential to cause such problems?

    a 3" high flow cat is most likely going to set a P0420 code.

    Considering I need to add a cat, what's the best solution to avoid the code while still getting performance out of my mods? Should I just have an OEM 2.5" cat welded in? Or, if I find something close to stock performance in a 3" size, would that work better?

    What kind of difference would the cat make in the performance?

    2.5" cat is fine, that is what was on my car. the cat won't make a lot of difference in performance, especially being n/a.

    Lots of good info here, reading and reading till my eye balls feel like they're gona fall outta muh head!

    This is what I'm looking at,
    If I buy these, STAINLESS RACING MANIFOLD HEADER/EXHAUST GRAND PRIX/GTP/REGAL/IMPALA/MONTE CARLO | eBay

    Is it worth the $$ to buy this to elim the cat? Or would I be better off taking it in and fabbing something?

    I know I'll need the band clamps... thank god for napa.. last time I asked for them at advanced the guy handed me a hose clamp.. As well as rtv and a little bit of hope.
