hey guys, newbie here so bare with me. i am starting to mod, but wont go all out like some of you (can't afford to). i plan on ordering today from 3800performance the following:
reflashed pcm, 180 thermostat, autolite 605 plugs, 3.4" supercharger pulley and gator belt and a thrasher cold air induction kit. also plan on doing u bend delete. i only drive the car in the summer, and i dont drive the car hard, drive about 120 kms/75miles per day.

with all that said, can i get away with going down to a 3.4" pulley with those mods safely? i will not do any more exhaust work. i know a guy who just changed his pulley and nothing else and had no problems. obviously i wont go that route so all help is appreciated, thanks.

    read link in my sig

And if you REALLY want to push your luck, run 87 octane as well.

Just don't be surprised we say "told you so" if you lose your front bank of pistons.

And thanks for repping our provincial capital so poorly.

no, you cant do it safely the way you have it listed above. Read this and it will tell you what you have to do to run a 3.4 and pcm safely:http://www.grandprixforums.net/f81/safely-modding-your-3800-powered-car-17482.html

thanks for the input. as for matt5112, no problem, the rest of canada hates toronto anyway so what does it matter, do you expect anything less?

just because your friends car was "ok" doesn't mean anything. did he scan it? doubt it. pullies are not the 1st mods. with my mods and a 3.5 i knock. so a close to bone stock and a 3.4 will eventually grenade. go ahead and list your car on "parts for sale"....not trying to be an a$$ but read the stickies, their here to help u new people!

Skip the U-Bend...get headers. You should be able to run a 3.4" for the most part...save some money...make your own intake...don't buy a gatorback, its a waste of money...get a reg. belt sized for the 3.4"...I can't stress enough how much you need to read my Safely Modding Your 3800 Thread.

Your motor also needs 91+ octane...all the time. It keeps knock down.

Well, in today's day and age and the "KR" epidemic, you won't be able to get away with these mods and a 3.4 pulley.

I guess these guys weren't around when we used to put a u-bend delete, intake, 104 plugs and an intake on and go right to a 3.4 .... guess what, a lot of us lived and learned, we are still up and running. 87 octane is a no-no though...

you can run a 3.4 on a stock car, but no one said the car would run better.
