Hi all, first post long time lurker, but I kind of wanted a second opinion before taking my GTP to another shop.

So I took my grand prix to a repair shop the other day for a power steering leak. Come to find out the dipstick tube for the transmission rubbed a hole in the pressure line of my power steering. According to them at first they stated that the car's engine mount was bad and due to play in the mount is why it went bad possibly. The mechanic is a buddy of mine so I trust him, he had to leave his shop for the day so he didn't have time to give me a quote, and he just did a quick rundown of what he thought was going on.

The next day after having another of there mechanics look at it they said the rack and pinion lines were routed wrong, and due to this it caused it to rub and leak. They also said that the play that the engine mount had was reasonable.

Now I had my rack and pinion replaced last summer on this car, Is this a feasible scenario of wrong routing of a line. I have not seen how the rack and pinion is supposed to be routed normally so I don't know if the pressure line of the rack is supposed to be close to the dipstick tube of the transmission. Because if it is not I am going to take it back to the shop I had the rack done at.

Thanks for looking
