anyone?
Lim gaskets tend to leak. Easy fix tho. Other then that solid 200,000 mile plus car.
will keep an eye on that when buying, thanks!
Teh ghey
what do you guys think, should I buy a 2000-2003 GTP or 2004 GT or GT2?
Def the 2000-03,
Interior is worse, brakes aren't as good, body looks better, seats are worse (part of one), but its got boost and that extra 40 horse.
some of the 2004 were built in 03 and had the bad gaskets. half way thru 04 they changed to the aluminum gaskets.
as far as the dd, do you want some kick to it??? a gt will be fine, biggest thing i would look into is the trans. drive it around in diffrent conditions (make sure it shifts good/feels good, make sure the torque converter dont wont to jump around going uphills) as for diffrent gaskets, thats an easy fix. dont be scared if that, if anything you can talk people down because of bad gaskets.
if you need some kick in your dd, then yea, gtp.
many people get alot of miles out of these motors. little sensors will go out over time, but if you know what it is, its a easy fix. trans will last for a long time to IF you take care of them. dont beat the crap out of the trans, IE dont stab the throttle, get off the gas, then stab it again and leave the trans hunting around for gears. you can mash on it all you want, but dont leave the trans hunting around for gears. i try to roll into it a little bit before i get into it, let the trans downshift a gear first (4th to 3rd, then mash on it and go to 2nd) or let the torque converter unlock first (get off the gas, roll into it a tad to let things catch then hammer down)
but ive been beating the piss out of my trans, so it will last. just make sure it is in decent condition before you get it. there is many ways to mask trans conditions, lucas oil additives and what not. thats why i say drive it around in many diffrent conditions and really feel for it. mine felt fine when i got mine but it blew 3rd gear out 3 days after i got, but they fixed that for free![]()
