Trannyman started a thread about devistated transmissions so i thought i would do the same for any engine. Post'em up!

Sad thing is that was just the first engine. I have yet to open up the other one to see what when on there. All of this due to a small vacuum line not connected correctly. Oops.

    Which one? Fuel pressure regulator?

Crazy pictures. I guess the 3800 is not indestructible after all.

AH...this sucks...I had a whole desk top folder of saved Grand Prix carnage pictures I have been saving since 2001, we lost it when we tried to upgrade from windows 98 to xp.

I have an L67 engine out in the garage now on the stand that has a nice big hole in the side of the block like those on P1. Its going to be turned into another coffee table.

^this old motor chunked the #2 piston, and the wrist pin that was left in the rod did unrepairable damage to the cylinder as it went.

Easy to make, just costs a lot for the route I went. Clean all the parts well, in my case used my brothers shops hot tank, drill the block for the new location of the rods, tap the holes for the right thread of the rod bolts, slightly modify the rods

The block, pistons, and rods were all powder coated cause I don't like chipped paint...and I wanted it to last for a very long time. The bolts for the rods to the block were chrome plated for that extra touch of bling. The glass was a recycled free bee that was donated from Abrasive, then I went to Wally world, and got me some little clear "bumpers" to support the glass from the top of the pistons

    assemble, and done.

You supply the parts, and pay for the powder coating, I could make you one.

I had plans to turn mine into a 6 bulb lamp for the garage, or over the pool table. one light per cylinder.

Nice table!!! I never thought of that.

Man I want a machine shop. I worked in one for a few years and learned how to run the lathe, end mill and stuff like that. What I wouldnt give for a nice shed that had room to hold all that and a drill press and a little bit of material.

What would the powder coating cost Farns?

I too would love to have a bench top lathe, or even a mill, that would be slick. For the mean time though, I just use my floor drill press, and convert the table to what I need done, regular vice for holding, or a compound vice for the X and Y axis machining. I'm VERY limited on what I can do with it, but having it is truly an investment. Grew up using a bench vice and a hand drill...life sucked...I know. LOL

The powder coating of the parts ran me $200.00 kinda pricey...but damn worth it knowing I will never have rust marks on my carpet. I'm going to make another one for my patio deck in the future. It will be powder coated white to match my future furniture, on my future deck. LOL

might be a project, but wonder what painting the whole block in POR-15 would look like... would seal up rather well i think
