I consistently run a WIX filter and Schaeffer's 15w40 synthetic blend oil. Is "edge" a brand name?

Its basically "improved" synthetic. Honeslty just buy Syntec when its on sale unless you wanna go for amsoil. 01GTP sells it on here for cheap.

Don't think with your dipstick think with your brain. I am sure it is good stuff for the price. You can't beat Amsoil tho IMO.

I run Mobil 1 because I have a brand loyalty to them, I like the smell and I'm a little cheap for Amsoil. As long as you stuck with the same weight and stay away from the cheap Fram filters I doubt you will notice much of a difference as it seems like a high quality synthetic.

On a somewhat off topic note, I stick with BP gas (and they own Castrol) because even though they are one of the worst polluters they seem serious about finding energy alternative to dino oil. BP Invests $3 Billion in Alternative Energy Globally (Update1) - Bloomberg.com

^^I realize a stock L36 is not as fast as the sticker implies, but this sticker has worked and it is still a hell of a lot of fun to drive considering it's a grocery sedan.

Some might disagree with me, but my opinion is that I would sooner pour straight tap water into my crankcase than anything made by Castrol. Call me crazy, but that's just what I think. I had a brief (read 3 miles) experience with Castrol in a freshly rebuilt engine and I swore to never use another one of their products again. Near zero oil pressure didn't make me feel warm and fuzzy with near 3 grand dumped into an engine.

That is a deal, I would be on that like stink on a wet dog! I’m running regular Syntec atm, seems like great stuff. The Edge is the same oil, just more goodies in it for high mileage engines. When I leave work in the morning the temp should be right at about 0F, I’ll let you know if my car blows up.

Ten years of continuous driving excitement and counting!
