just followed the how to fix water on passenger floor instructions... assuming everything went fine but when i was done i noticed something. the cowl is popped up like a 1/16th of an inch or so between where the drivers windshield wiper ends and the base of the passenger windshield wiper. nothing appears to be buckled our out of allignment or anything. i believe i installed the water deflector in the correct position. anyone else experience this? anyone else notice if that gap was always there or not? any comments or advice? oh yeah- its the 1 piece cowl, not the 2 piece

I assume you cut the L shaped piece off of the bottom of your cowl with a razor blade. When I did this I forgot that part at first.

^^I realize a stock L36 is not as fast as the sticker implies, but this sticker has worked and it is still a hell of a lot of fun to drive considering it's a grocery sedan.

i had another plastic piece in there with vent slots on it that i took out, it wasnt mentioned in the write up. the little piece of weatherstripping thats supposed to be the original water deflector and the vented piec egets thrown away is replaced by the new piece. the cowl should fit perfect when you take that vented piece out, i did all this on monday.

im pretty sure it had something to do with the weather stripping... i took the cowl back off and put the weather stripping on first. this allowed for the "lip" of the stripping to be underneath the cowl. when i did that and looked everything looked fine so whatever it was, problem fixed!

all you have to do is remove wipers and the cowl, take the piece of weather stripping from the factory that is most likely laying above your blower motor, clean the track and rim below the windshield with alcohol or an all purpose cleaner quirt in some all weather adhesive in the mounting track of the original piece of weather stripping and stick it on. Wait a couple hours for the adhesive to set up. Reinstall the cowl and wipers. Problem solved. I do this 3 times a week at least with customer cars for the last 7 years. Not one has came back saying they have water in their floorboard......again. 3 hour fix!

You don't even need to do that. Just pinch the weather stripping then put it back on.

That will work if the metal clip in there isn't rusted out. While you have it apart you may as well glue it on because if the metal isn't rusted out, it will be. Just a matter of time before it fails again if you don't use adhesive. Adhesive = $4. My time to take it apart again......lot more than 4 bucks.
