    alright fellas,
i just purchase my 2001 gtp special edition last week...and have since noticed a few minor issues. i have done some digging on my own and may know a couple of the fixes already, but thought i would let you all chime in if you would like. i won't get a chance to get to this stuff til thanksgiving, but then i will dive in headfirst on these items.

    1. the toughest problem...only on right turns, and not even all the time, but there is this clank noise...i can't feel it in the steering wheel or the pedals. i can barely feel it in the floor, but i can definitely hear it. sounds like its coming from the drivers side.

    2. fan does not work on setting 1 and 2. all other settings are fine

    3. drl and auto headlights dont work at all, only manual headlights...i did check to see if the sensor was plugged in and it is. also checked the wire on the E-brake and its hooked up.

    4. the rear tires looks like the camber is off a bit...seems to me that the top of the tires lean in too far. maybe its just me, but seems like they should be more straight up and down....i know, i know, its better for cornering that way...but with a baby on board, thats the least of my concerns!!

other than these minor problems, i love the car. very smooth ride and pretty quick for a heavy car. all black and just had the tint done saturday. can't wait to throw some new rims on as im not a fan of the special edition rims, but they have good tread, so i won't be trading those out very soon.

oh yea.. resistor cost me $30 with tax. its located behind blower under passenger side dash and had 3 screws holding it in (one back one i think is invisible.. u just have to get in there to find it). very common issue on these cars. the new one is an upgrade.

sleeper thanks for the input...i might try to change out that blower resistor in the next couple days...it really takes 2 hours for three screws. am i missing something here? sounds like that is going to suck. did you just get get the resistor from autozone/o'reilly's kind of store or did you have to order from somewhere online?

as for the drl fuse, i did check that and its fine as well. so back to the drawing board!!

im also thinking something with suspension as well. like maybe a strut mount or something like that. won't know til i actually get in there. my brother had a cts that had a clunk noise that was similar and it took us forever to figure it out. turned out to be a the sway bar bushing that holds the sway bar to the frame. it was crazy, everything was tight and we scratched our heads until we ran out of ideas...last ditch effort was that sway bar bushing and that was it!! hope the troubleshooting goes a little easier on this one.

resistor i just called around for best deal.. but yea autozone had best price and it in stock. the screws are so tight and hard to get at. i had to pull my fan motor for a little mroe room.. its just such an uncomfortable position to work in.

regarding your fan problem not working on 1 and 2 speed; I have read that the ignition switch is the solution..... this is on the driver's side and it goes into the steering colum, hope this helps...Sergio.
