I just this weekend realized my '98 GTP coupe is not worth putting on the road due to excessive rot. My question is, if I find a nice GT doner car, say with a bad engine or trans, is it possible to transfer my GTP "goodies" into the GT easy enough to wind up with a true GTP? Yeah, I know, "easy" is a relative term. In other words, would any items need to be fabricated, welded on ( i.e. tabs or brackets), etc ?

Nothing custom. Look in the general forum there is a lot of good info there.

Peace of cake haha. I've made a write-up for both the motor swap as well as the HD swap. Transmission isn't really needed to swap and is also an easy 3.29 gear upgrade, unless of course this is the reason you pick up the donor GT for cheap, in which case just swap motor and trans and run the GTP PCM. Simple plug and play

also, if not already installed on the car here's a good HUD/DIC install guide

what about top swapping the l37 motor? would that make any more or less power? my gtp has 90k on it and i was thinking about lookin for a gt with low miles and just swapping all my mods and such over, but i didnt think it'd be that easy

top swapping an L36*** is the same as doing the head gaskets cept you just put on the L67 top half instead of L36

The reliability of a topswap to me doesn't make it worth it. I'd rather just stick the whole motor in and have it last

yea.. sorry l36, but i hear different pistons and such on the n/a motor. so would putting supercharger on that motor still come with 240 hp? or would it be greater or less?

higher compression so 252 is what you'd get "in a perfect world"

i would never use another l67/l32 block again on an m90 build. turbo build only.

    Overall the swap is easy.

Pull the motor/trans together, put them into the new car together and add/change a couple wires then program the pcm for the correct year/engine trans combo.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Check out just a few of the pix I posted in the Lounge in the thread "97-"03 owners a must see"

How about everything underneath from the "B" pillar back is badly rusted or completely rotted through. This includes areas of the rocker panels, ALL brake lines , parking brake cable, suspension parts, etc. So, NO BRAKES AT ALL and gaping rotted holes.

Topswap setups are just as reliable as a GTP if you do it right. But it has more power than a gtp.

Yep. And after some of fastkatt's tuning I've got zero knock most of the time. SOMETIMES I see .5*. 3.8 pulley. Some say to do 4.0, but from what I've seen that's not necessary at all.
