I had a 00 GMC Sierra and a 00 S10. Both of them had the headlights that automatically came on at night, just like my Grand Prix GT I just got. But the trucks had the dome override switch, where my GP doesn't. Is there any way to get the lights to come on only with the headlamp switch? The only way I know to do this is to press your emergency brake and then start the vehicle. But it only does this during idle, which is silly. I appreciate any help or ideas.

you can turn off the main lights by getting the switch between the parking lights and the dd lights on the switch other than that there are ways to make them non auto

that didnt work on my 01. doing that didnt even properly disable my DRLs, i had to disconnect the module

what you have to do is pull out that little sensor that senses weather its day or night, and replace it with a 20 cent resistor from radio shack. they come in 5 packs so it will actually cost you a $1. i forget the exact specs on the resistor but with some searching it shouldnt be too hard to find.... ill do some looking today and see if i can find the package with the other 4 then tell you what kind it was

alright, after 10 minutes of digging through nothing but useless SH*T, i found them!

what you will need is a 4.7k-ohm 1/4 watt resistor. a 1/2 watt will NOT work

or you could just unplug the DRL harness ..... its small square that looks a lil but like a tiny Amp....its behind the little panel that pops off on the drivers side dash...
