Are we talking rear speakers? If so, mine are so low that I can't hear them at all from the front yet the rear passengers aren't deafened moreso than the front when I crank it up.

Traditionally, music has been a 2 channel format so keeping the sound up front works best for soundstage/imaging and all that. But if you've got stock speaker locations, just put the best speakers you can find (not most expensive... If i knew you IRL I'd laugh at you for it, $500 for a pair of speakers is TOO MUCH) and keep them all at the same level, perhaps add a sub.

If you want bass out of the rear 6x9's, consider this speaker:

Parts-Express.com:Tang Band W69-1436 6"x9" Neo Subwoofer | subwoofer 6"x9" subwoofer neodynium subwoofer tangband tb speakers

    Walmart.com: Sony 6x9 3-way Speakers, 190 Watts Power Handling, XSGTX6930: Auto Electronics

These are the ones I got.. they got good reviews..

    $98 shipped

But if you insist, the ones for $64, they've got a higher RMS wattage rating and actually have a sensitivity rating ("91 dB" ).

i was the same way, money's always an issue. i got the same pair, and don't get me wrong, they're really good mids, crystal clear sound, the bass never distorts it. i can imagine they got good reviews. i was just expecting a little more bass when it said 300 watts, and especially from sony. you could almost just hook them up with the wires hanging in the trunk and see if you like them and return them if you don't, i doubt they'll check to see if it's been opened haha. and like i said, i prefer pioneer. i had a set of 4 x 10's in my S-10 that i really liked. and i'm probably getting as much bass out of the 5.25" pioneer's in the doors than i am out of the sonys. if you're going to add a sub later maybe, the sonys would be great. and i honestly didn't look at the $44 ones when i was buying mine. i feel that it's really a get-what-you-pay-for thing with car audio.
