Well I've still got the rough idle issue and it's throwing a "system too lean on bank one" code. Thought I had a bad MAF, so I replaced that, nothing. Any ideas?

I have a code scanner, but that's about it.
If you mean why do I not have an aeroforce or a tuner, that would be because I am broke.

scan tool is a lot cheaper than a new motor
It could also be a bad 02 contributing as well...no way to know unless you are scanning.

99% sure there's a horrible vac leak somewhere. All symptoms point to vac leak and it's idling at 1k.
    Wouldn't an o2 throw a code?

Did it at first, then we fixed it (or so we thought) and a couple weeks alter it started again but not nearly as bad.

it is.... its throwing a p0171, the exact code you described

when i got that code it was a vacuum leak. a hole was melted through the intake plenum right above the egr port

Did you have a reason to suspect the MAF? I'm referring to your last thread: http://www.grandprixforums.net/f81/w...his-21601.html

Idling over 1K sure points to a vac leak.

mine threw that same code because it was missing the maf screen. i put 1 in it and its never come back on ever since. the maf wasnt reading correctly.

Really? No I don't have the screen, but it's been doing fine without if for about half a year now.

i never ran a screen. there is no need for one so long as you tune it pretty well.

well i removed my screen and next thing u know i was throwing a code saying running lean bank 1, obviously the air coming in wasnt being read correctly by the maf and it had a rough idle. i put it back in and no probs since. try it out, put 1 in it and c what happens, cant hurt.

First thing I'd do is toss el screeno back in. Some cars complain and toss codes, some don't. Being that you are getting a code, a screen is an easy thing to try.

Next thing is ....do you still have an EGR tube going to the LIM? They crack pretty easy and you'd have to pull it off the car to check it. Can't tell you guys how many lean banks have been solved by the tube.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Alright thanks, after I break out the brake cleaner and check for the vac leak that I'm pretty sure is there and fix that, I'll try both those things if the problem isn't solved. Odd that the screen would cause it though, I took that out when I installed my FWI so that was about half a year ago and I've never had a problem.
