Ok just bought a 05 GTP earlier this week, the dealership said 87 octane the manual said premium and the SSEi's which is supercharged is said to take premium so I'm assuming premium just cuz the fact it's superharged but I would like to hear what you guys think

premium should be used in a forced induction car, so anything 91+ would work fine.

That's probably what gets you the most performance, but my 98 says Premium only, I'm poor, and it's still running. I doubt premium fuel has ever even been in my gas tank before...

I run 104 and can say the highest octane available to you is best. You can run 87 and just take it easy cruising, but if you like to get on it alot, 91+ is best.

I'm sorry...but that's dumb. Do you know that running premium vs. 87 is going to cost you what? $3-$4 IF that at the pump...just think of what it is going to cost you in the long run...

Nick you took the words right out of my mouth. I hate people that buy performance cars and put ****ty gas in them. The manual says you can run it, it doesn't say to run it all the time. And the gas cap clearly says Premium Only.

If your that poor sell your car and get a moped until you can get your finances in check.

My car wouldn't even sell for a moped. It's salvaged title.

I read the manual in the 06 and it says to the effect that you can run on 87 but you will get more knock. 91 is recommended but it seems everyone just buys the highest they can in your area. Stupid kansas city only goes up to 91

Once have an actual job I'll start using higher octane gas, but right now a new car isn't an option, and neither is higher octane gas. I come across about 20 or so dollars everytime my tank is empty to fill up, which is slightly less than 3/4.

It isnt going to make that much difference...the extra dollar or two you are throwing out now is going to save you money in the end. You can't run crap 87 on a forced induction car...you just can't. You think spending a few extra bucks at the pump is bad? Try a new bottom end from a chipped piston. Just saying...but don't take my word for it. Try it and see how much better our car runs.

I'm sorry dude but that is still not a valid argument.

Do your car and your fellow GP'ers a favor and put Premium in your ride. It's just not worth taking the chance of blowing it up.
