Well I found my new car.
1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT---Excellent Condition
Going by tomorrow morning to test drive it and pick it up. My dad already test drove it today and thinks it's great. Apparently it's in immaculate condition. Only problem he noticed is a sound when he turns the A/C on, could be a belt or something but I wouldn't think it would be too much to fix. 99 Grand Prix GT (3.4L) with 85,000 for $3,000. Is that a good deal for a car in that good of shape?
Wouldn't that be a 3.8L? And yeah, thats a pretty good deal according to KBB if its fully loaded and in mint condition. (assuming zip code 89124)
I don't know if it's a 3.8. The guy who owns it is retired and probably drove it pretty softly. I asked what size it was and he said he thinks it's a 3.4 but isn't sure.
Edit: Yeah I guess the 99 only comes in 3.8? I guess it must be then.
Grand Prix's only come with 3800's or 3100's if they're SE models.
Thats actually even better news if he drove if softly, transmission should be in excellent shape. Usually the biggest issue with our cars short of the lower intake manifold gasket which I'd suggest inquiring about the service the owner has had done to his car including warranty work.
I know this is a stupid question, but if I get the GP, is it possible to put in a supercharger later or otherwise make it equal to a GTP, or is there no way to do that? I know GTPs have a slightly different engine bay setup, and looking at the GP I don't see how one would fit. I actually don't want leather seats like GTPs usually have because of the hot weather here in Vegas. I do want to mod my car eventually and have more power, so it would be nice if I could have the option to upgrade it later. Are there any other differences so I know what I'm missing out on by not getting a GTP?
If it is possible to put a supercharger in a GT, how much would one run at a junkyard? $500? More?

What you are looking for is called a "top swap".
http://www.grandprixforums.net/f17/t...lots-7763.html
You can find all the parts you need from Morad Parts Company.
Morad Parts Company - 3800 Motors, Transaxles, & Stock Parts
Looks like a lot of work.
I would rather find a gtp or gtx and rebuild.
yes you can SC a stock GT, it is called a top swap and it is alot of work to do it yourself or to pay someone to do it would be fairly expensive. The SE models came with the 3.1, the Gt's w/ the 3.8 and the GTP's with a supercharged 3.8 liter. All models of motors are the same and only available as described above from 97-03. You basically looked at a better condition car of what you already have.
Woot. Bought a Another GP. At the least the 97 can be a parts donor....
the posting was deleted so I assume that you bought it?
Yup, I made a thread in the Lounge. I just bought it today, it's sexy. I posted more about it in the other thread.
