Just a shot in the dark but I know you said you replaced the fuel pump and filter but is there a way you can make sure the injectors are firing? I saw one mentioned to try starting the car with the pedal slightly depressed to see if it stays running. Did it? You said the spark was good so Im still stuck on the fuel theory. Good luck.

It didn't... I have to have the pedal pressed throughout... if I let go of the gas it dies.

i hope this diagram helps you locate the IAC. though you should be getting a CEL with code P0506 or P0507 if there is an issue with it. 506 is IAC system rpm low and 507 is IAC system rpm high.

can you get your hands on a MAF to see if a new one would be it?

There's no other way to check it is there?

Sadly I don't know anyone with a Grand Prix...

    Hmmm.

I think you can check the voltages if you have a way to scan it........I think. Or maybe you can have an autozone or something like it scan it for you for the voltages...???? just throwing out ideas....I cant remember for sure if this is possible.

i think what liquifire is trying to get at is testing the voltage from the connector that goes to the MAF to see if it's a wiring issue. im not sure if it can be done with a scanner or if you would need a voltimeter.

I'll check with Autozone on that....

My uncle was thinking about the car.. and he wanted me to open the hood once more... he looked for a bit.. and then he took the air filter vent? off and he saw a screen... and it was damaged..

He said that has to be it....

    is it possible?

:EDIT: The damage consists of a small hole.. and the screen seemes to be bent...

did you try to run it without that piece on? i don't see a screen causing that big of an issue unless it's completely restricting the air from getting through

Unless like half the screen is damaged, I don't think that would cause the issues you're having.

When the car's running, do you constantly have to keep moving the throttle, or does just barely holding it open allow it to run fine?

    The car does not run....

and I did take the screen off and nothing.. it is kind of half bent.

I need to check the MAF... if there's a bent on the screen then I'm guessing the MAF also got hit?

that screen is the MAF screen. Many people on here run with it and without it. It is designed to smooth out the airflow so that the MAF sensor can read it easier....It is doubtful that this screen is causing the issue as it will not even idle on its own and at that point there is not much air being sucked into the MAF area. You can remove that screen and try it, but I would be surprised if that was it. It is your choice if you would like to replace this screen or not. On the voltage issue, I thought that maybe you could see what the MAF voltage is(not sure what it is supposed to be) and I thought that there was two codes that it could throw......one for low voltage, and one for high.......this would set off your SES light...

it is unlikely the MAF got hit as well unless there is visible damage to it or an actual hole in that screen when you took it off. But that doesnt mean that the MAF is acting as it should....

Crap... so more than likely I will have to pay a mechanic to check it huh?

One of em is charging me 75$ to check it... and he does not guarantee me that whatever he points out will fix the car.

If he has a scanner... the scanner should do it all right? It seems too much for a diagnosis

Have you tried un-plugging the MAF and starting the car yet? If it runs like that, then your MAF is most likely bad. If you still have an issue, then you can start looking elsewhere.

FINALLY.... yes this happened... it started and when I plugged it back in it died. So it has to be that.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate this..

I wouldnt pay that much for a diagnosis either.......keep checking this stuff yourself if you can........
