    I have a 01 gt with the mods listed in my sig. I'm having my factory tips put back on the car today, and I had the woman at the exhaust shop quote me on a downpipe while I'm there. She said she could install my tips and but a 2.5" dp in for 65 bucks. Trick is that's keeping my stock cat, because she wanted another 240 bucks for a high-flo cat. Is it worth it to upgrade to a 2.5" pipe and keep the stock cat?

    seemed like a good price, and I figured I could always replace the cat with a high-flo once this one goes.

    Either ditch the cat or get a high flow...stock = weak.

    It's the resonator you want to leave on...not the cat...the cat gives a deeper tone and the res. delete gives you rasp.

    IMO a Good res. and mufflers without a cat makes for a great combo.

    the res. is already gone as well as the u-bend. I was just going to upgrade the dp. my question was more concerning if it was worth upgrading the dp w.o upgrading the cat. in my county i need to have the cat for emissions, i just cant afford a hi-flo right now.

    you can get hi flows for under $70........just bring it to them and have them install it if that isnt too much money for you.

    might as well put a resonator back in it while your under there...I know what deleted res. GP's sound like and it aint pretty.

    thanks for the advice guys. I had them install my tips and left the cat alone for a few more months. give me some more time to decide if I'm getting PEMs or not...

    if you like your engine, get an upgraded tune from someone other than zzp........imo.

    IMO, get a 3" even on the GT. Its been proven not to hurt them any and some of the fastest bolt on GTs (at least on ClubGP) have 3" DPs. Besides, i'd be willing to bet the DP they will make will be crush bent anyway and if this is true, it won't be any better than stock because it'll be crushed down to 2" anyways.

    I'd get a pre made DP that is mandrel bent... unless exhaust shops where you live mandrel bend pipes...

    or just get the u bend delete done for now if the DP is not of high quality.....this would at least help for sure and not just wasting money.......idk....

    u-bend and res are already gone. for my current mod level my exhaust should suffice. im waiting to decide what to do to the top end.
