Thread: temp rising?

OK, my 03 GTP is stock, save the HM-FWI, Autolite 605s, new wires. 73k on the clock, I got her at 68k.
I have no idea which thermostat is installed ( but due to the mismatched bolts, I believe it's been changed ), she still has Dexcrap in it. The car seems to run at a hair over 185 ( by the factory gauge ). She runs there most of the time, and the fans kick on just under 210. My question is, should the temp. climb rapidly ( on the guage ) during hard accels. or on hills, or do I have a flow problem? Also, what stat do you think is in there?

I bled it the other day, no air came out.

I'm gettting the system flushed out by my buddies shop two weeks from now, and I'm going to insist he puts the green stuff in. He has one of those flush units, and he says it's the way to go. He's good, I'll believe him. I don't want the dex and green to mix ( I hear that's the REAL problem with the Dexcool ), so I'm going with the machine flush.

I think you prob have the 195(factory temp) thermostat in there now. I just flushed mine this last weekend( I used the home kit- first you drain it completely, then rinse it up to temp......then run cleaner at engine temp for 4-6 hours mixed only with water......then rinse it thoroughly again........then filled it with Peak green long life anti freeze...... this way I have guaranteed no mixing of fluids) anyway I switched to a 180* thermostat while I was in there and plan on getting a tune at some point to adjust fan turn on points.......Otherwise mine acts almost the same as yours... I can almost watch the temp gauge go up on my dash if I am on it for a little while. as soon as I let off it comes back down to normal operating temp........as long as the temp doesnt get too high I wouldnt worry about it.
