Thread: No vent position change

Hi everyone this my first post ot this forum. My GP is my first experience with this model.Well after 154K+ and still running VERY strong.With only a fuel pump replacement.The car has cost next to nothing.It is arguably the best car I have ever owned.On my 2000 GP SE 3.1. I can't change the vent position.Is this a caused by a bad vaccume line?Or a actuator.Or???.Dose anyone know where this system located? Thanks for any responce.

Ok i'll take a shot at this one. First off, not being negative but get ready for a flurry of crap t0o start to fail. But you got us here for that. Any who, when you say "you can't change the vent position" I would guess that you are referring to your DCC (dual climate control). Let us know so we can better assist you. Actually I spent over 2 hours looking for and then removingthe actuators from some Buick Regals. I am having a hellofa hellofa time replacing the actuator so I am wondering if 1. this actuator is even going to work and 2. if the actuator is even the problem. So I would suggest you help us to help you by giving more information. But then again I could be talking about a totally unrelated problem. Alright I'm finished ranting. HELP!!! BTW the actuator I'm talking about is right behindyour glove compartment. If yous is like my 99 GTP, all you have to do to get behind there is open your glove box and squeeze together the sides of the side walls and pull backward to gain access. Hope this helps.

First off thanks Flatliner for the info.My GP is pretty base.I do not have DCC.I was told it was a bad vacume line.So I wanted a second opinion.The problem is when I turn the position selection control,99% of thr air is at the floor.No matter where I turn the knob.I get heat and a/c.So the temp control actuator works.I gess I was hope someone knows is this a machanical or just a hose.Thanks again.If anyone has driveline trouble i have a fair amount of experience.So just ask.

Hey folks, I just joined a few days ago. So far, this is the only post I could find regarding this issue. I pulled my dash apart and was looking at the vaccum lines. I pulled the lines off the switch and started the car. No signs or sounds of air movement. Shouldn't I hear something if there was any vaccum? I have no idea where to go from here. Any suggestions would be great.

It looks like the red line comes off of a solenoid of some sorts. Is this the primary vaccum line?

Any idea where I could get a diagram of the lines?

My car with dual digital climate control may be a little different, also has the 3.8 s/c. The vacuum line had multiple breaks in it (repaired one break another fracture opened up 1" away). The primary line for me was black with a black elbow, it came out of a wiring harness.

If you have the floor mounted shifter what I did was route the vacuum line straight from the ac control to the engine, bypassing the vacuum reservoir (couldn't see it on my car anyway) right beside the transmission selector cable. I used metal brake line with 2 points for flex with vacuum tubing ~3/16" (larger than stock) and the climate controll seems to work great now
