What is the consensus regarding the use of the AC PF 52 as opposed to the recommended PF 47?

Looks to me to be the same filter, just a bit longer. I am sure this topic has been covered in the past, I would appreciate any and all input.

They are for the 4.3 liter Vortec V6 IIRC. And yes, just a bit longer.

i read somewhere (dont remember where/when) that someone was using the longer filter on their grand prix and they had dents in the bottom of it from something in the suspension hitting it.

like i said, i dont remember where or when i read that, or if it was even true. just give you my "any and all" input

I've been using the longer filters for a while. No dents.

It just gives you more filtering media so you get more efficient filtering and a possibly longer service interval if you're using a good quality oil.

In order for the filter to hit the subframe, the motor mount would have to be absolutely, completely shot. I've been running the PF52 size filter for ~100K now without any problems at all.
